What do we do with the data?

Create up-to-date maps of where red squirrels are sighted across the north of England.

Create up-to-date maps of where grey squirrels have been sighted, helping to identify incursion corridors into the Red Squirrel Reserves and large 'pools' of greys close to these reserves.

Pass the data on to Britain's most eminent researchers in red squirrel ecology, including Dr Peter Lurz at University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and John Gurnell at the University of London.

Pass the data onto the Joint Nature Conservation Committee to update their maps on red and grey squirrels as part of the National Biodiversity Network.

Grey only sightings are passed directly to the RSPP who may wish to contact you.
